        PetroChina SouthWest Oil &Gas Field Company ILI project

        Client Goal

        Provided detailed and accurate pipeline defects data for pipeline overhaul project every year

        Technology challenge

        Most of the SouthWest pipelines had the characteristics of long construction time, complex geographic environment, small pipe diameter, medium (natural gas) unstable flow velocity, high content of hydrogen sulfide

        The pipeline was highly abrasion to the vehicle seal assembly (seal cup, etc.)


        Measure adopted

        Using a series of low velocity packets, anti-hydrogen sulfide corrosion treatment procedures, etc. The high wear resistance type sealing assembly was used in the inspection tool


        Conclusion

        Through testing and comparison of several domestic and foreign ILI companies on the SouthWest pipeline, it had been proved that only PPL can carry out various modifications of the equipment through its strong research and development ability, and successfully completed various SouthWest inspection tasks. Since 2004, PPL has developed 8 sets of inspection data processing package system according to the characteristics of SouthWest pipeline, and achieved good technical results in operation practice

        Through the verification of excavation, the accuracy of PII inspection was approved by SouthWest oil and gas field company, which ensured the owner to carry out targeted reinforcement and repair plan

        Since 2004, PPL has inspected nearly 1,000 km of pipelines in SouthWest Oil & Gas Field every year.

         

         

        Shanghai Natural Gas Pipeline network Co,ltd ILI project(IMU)

        Client goal

         Confirm the working status of Shanghai natural gas main pipeline network, ensure the safe, stable and efficient supply of gas to Shanghai region, and implement integrity management requirements

        Technology challenge

        Pipeline run pressure was lower than 2MPa

        There were many bends in the pipeline, and the run was not stable

        Measure adopted

        The low-voltage fitting was used to modify the tool to reduce the speed migration area. The purpose of installing this fitting was to reduce the speed migration to the maximum extent by reducing the burden of the vehicle.

        Conclusion

        According to the characteristics of the low pressure pipeline, the MFL vehicle and mapping unit is reformed, and obtained the best inspection results. According to the inspection report issued by owner, selected eight points for excavation, excavation results show that the parameters of the eight features included absolute distance/the relative distance from girth weld/ the orientation and peak depth was consistent with the inspection report parameters. Client was very satisfied with the result of the report The owner has applied for the Shanghai science and technology progress prize for this project.

         

        PetroChina East Pipeline Project

        Client goal

        Accurately identify and repair weld defects

        Technology challenge

        High flow rate was difficult to ensure successful inspection and ILI accuracy

        High static pipeline would result in inspection failure

        The owner was concerned that the pig and/or the vehicle might hit the receive trap door, causing a safety production accident

        Measure adopted

        VBP variable bypass was installed on the vehicle to reduce the average speed of the tool to 2.96m/s

        NGE antistatic device was installed on the vehicle to ensure successful operation

        PPL's W022 receiving and launching procedure successfully received the pig for the limited distance between the by-pass air outlet line and the receive trap door, avoiding the safety accident of vehicle hitting the receive trap door

        Conclusion

        The pit feature with depth between 5 and 13% wall thickness near the girth weld was clearly detected, which met the inspection purpose of the west-east gas transmission client. The corrosion characteristics of the surface of the weak area of the shallow entanglement were detected according to the high-quality inspection data, and the corrosion depth was 1-5%, which provided the basis for the investigation and re-entanglement of the proprietor. At the same time, a number of abnormal girth welds were found.

        Wo-Liang line B section 17‘'— MFL3 Inspection

        Client goal

        Confirm the working status of the main pipeline network and implement the pipeline integrity management requirements

        Technology challenge

        Poor hoisting environment and insufficient working space

        Measure adopted

        After preliminary analysis by PII, it is evident from the inspection sheet of preliminary report that there was metal loss features which was greater than 80%. On founding this, the project personnel of PPL immediately informed Chongqing Gas Field and Yubei transportation and Marketing Department of this dangerous situation, and then the three parties rushed to deal with on-site emergency to verify this site.

        Because this site was located in nongjiale, the excavation cost was extremely high, accurate location became extremely important, if the location deviation would brought extremely high costs to the operators. After a variety of methods and multiple reviews by PPL, the final positioning and excavation verification data were accurate, detailed as follows

         ※Conclusion

        After on-site verification, the inspection report data was completely consistent with the verified data at the excavation site, and the potential safety hazard was successfully eliminated for the client.

        Sinopec Puguang pipeline ILI

        Client goal 

        Confirm the working status of the main pipeline network of Sinopec south China Co,ltd and implement the pipeline integrity management requirements

        ※ Technology challenge 

        The field work is extremely difficult

        1.The working environment is a place with high sulfur. Personnel must wear a full set of safety protective equipment

        2.H2S content is extremely high, of which requirements on pig and inspection equipment is extremely high. Failure or disintegration of tool may occur


        Measure adopted






        Conclusion

        Southwest project team of PPL, completed P107-P106 pipeline(168mm) and P106-P104 pipeline(219mm) within 3 days on September 2017, both of the two pipeline, H2S content was about 15% within them. The tool was in good status after run, data quality was integrity. Our operating personnel and vehicle withstood the severe test, and the actual inspection results proved again that our inspection equipment could run successfully in the extremely harsh environment.
